Adults and Families: visit the West End Neighborhood Library to hear esteemed local geology professors Dr. Victor P. Zabielski and Dr. Kenneth Rasmussen, both of Northern Virginia Community College speak about the building stones of the National Mall, and The geologic history of Great Falls National Park.
Bring your own rock for the professors to identify, and the library will provide you with an identification certificate for your fun and as a keepsake of the day.
Stump the professors with your rare or unusual rock, but be aware; these highly trained scientists will report to you honestly if it is only a piece of broken parking lot from up the river.
