Come sing, dance and celebrate Black music, DC culture and community all afternoon long.
Get ready for a feel-good afternoon of classic hits, DC energy, and unforgettable vibes as Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library celebrates Black Music Month and Father’s Day with a 90’s-style celebration for the culture featuring Doug E. Fresh, DJ Quicksilva, and DJ Flexx who is celebrating 30 years of spinning beats for the DMV. From old-school hip-hop and R&B sing-alongs to the unmistakable sound of DC Go-Go, this once-in-a-lifetime experience brings generations together for music, memories and community in the heart of downtown DC.
Bring your chairs, bring your crew and celebrate the fathers, father figures and music that shaped a generation. Guests are also encouraged to come inside the Library to visit District Vibes: American Pride exhibit during the event — celebrating DC culture, creativity and community pride.
Doug E. FreshDoug E. Fresh is dubbed the “World’s Greatest Entertainer” and the “Original Human Beatbox,” but over the course of his 30-year career, he has established himself as so much more, including: global icon, artistic trailblazer, television personality and producer, successful businessperson, and activist. Fresh has forever etched himself into the annals of music history with his creation of the beatbox art form, whereby he vocally simulates the sound of drums and other musical instruments with stunning accuracy. Today, his skill and talents have resulted in an enduring international hip-hop legacy that continues to break new ground.
DJ QuicksilvaDJ Quicksilva—widely known as “The Party Kingpin”—is one of the most dynamic and influential DJs in the entertainment industry. From his DMV roots to national and international stages, he’s celebrated for his charisma behind the turntables and his commanding presence across radio, television, live events, brand partnerships, and community leadership.
DJ FlexxBorn and raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, DJ Flexx has become the areas most noted disc jockey. A veteran of the music industry, DJ Flexx has been rock’n the DC market since 1991.
