Discover the history behind the major landmarks and visit less known historical sites in the nation’s capital in A History Lover’s Guide to Washington, DC: Designed For Democracy, Updated Edition (linked to catalog) by Alison Fortier. This book goes beyond the traditional guidebook, taking a journey through each era of American history. The author first published the book in 2014 and released it with updated content in Fall 2025.
Copies of the book are available to check out from the library.
