DC Public Library invites your family to celebrate singing, talking and reading at this year's STAR Fest!

DC Public Library’s Books from Birth program and the DC Public Library Foundation’s Beyond the Book program proudly present STAR Fest 2025!

STAR stands for Sing, Talk, and Read — three key early‑literacy practices that help every child grow into a confident learner. STAR Fest is a free, family-friendly festival celebrating all the fun ways you can support your child’s learning through singing, talking, reading, writing, and playing.

At STAR Fest, your family can explore each station and enjoy:

• Sing Station: Live music from beloved local performers 
• Talk Station: Imaginative play experiences that spark storytelling, character creation, and big kid creativity.
• Read Station: Cozy, fun family story times in the Children’s Room.
• Write Station: Hands-on activities where kids can scribble, draw, and write while building fine motor skills.
• Play Station: A soft‑play wonderland where little ones can run, roll, jump, and explore as they build gross motor skills.
• Partner Station: Connect with community and education partners while your child enjoys activities like a petting zoo, train rides, face painting, games, and more. Plus, meet roaming book‑favorite characters like Bluey!

Families can also:
• Sign up for Books from Birth to receive a free book mailed to your home every month.
• Learn about Beyond the Book, DC Public Library’s next step for developing readers as they turn five.
• Grab healthy snacks (while supplies last).
