Reading Julio Cortázar’s The Pursuer which reflects the story of the legendary jazz musician Charlie Parker
Julio Cortázar’s The Pursuer stands as one of the most powerful literary meditations on creativity, freedom, and the cost of genius. Inspired by the final years of a legendary jazz musician Charlie Parker, the story captures the intensity of artistic pursuit and the profound questions that shape a life dedicated to improvisation and innovation. Cortázar’s distinctive prose invites readers to consider the boundaries between art and existence, offering a vivid portrait of a mind racing beyond the limits of its time.
This session will be led by Ehsan Abedi, Associate Librarian at the Georgetown Neighborhood Library and a published writer who has released short story collections in Iran in the Persian language.
