Enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon performance by the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra as the MLK Library hosts their Harp Ensemble, Prelude Strings, Debut Orchestra & String Ensemble.
Experience the beauty and storytelling power of music in a program that celebrates both youthful artistry and the spirit of America. Featuring Prelude Strings, our youngest musicians, and the Harp Ensemble, the concert opens with performances that reflect the joy and promise of early musical discovery, brought to life through graceful melodies and shimmering textures. The program continues with a tribute to the United States’ semi-quincentennial, as our ensembles share a musical journey through the nation’s past and present. The String Ensemble performs and arrangement of Aaron Copland’s Hoe-Down from Rodeo, Visions of the Sky, and Point Lookout (A Fantasy on Civil War Songs), while the Debut Orchestra presents American Landscape, Ashokan Farewell, Colors of Home, and Sally Goodin.
