The Joy Luck Club tells the stories of four mothers and their daughters in San Francisco, who have bonded over mahjong for decades.. The mothers, who immigrated from China, have different experiences than their fully American daughters.
Directed by Wayne Wang and starring Tsai Chin, Kieu Chinh, Lisa Lu, France Nuyen, Ming-Na Wen and Lauren Tom.
This film is being screened as a supplement to the Chevy Chase Library's Motherhood in Fiction lecture/discussion series.
