A monthly community-based writing series led by Tintas DC that centers Latine, BIPOC, queer, and marginalized voices to explore personal and collective resistance and healing through storytelling
“La Cosecha Showcase”: end of series showcase
This workshop will explore the importance of performance as resistance. Participants will reflect on their own written work and create a plan to read their texts in public. The workshop will culminate in a showcase where participants will present their written work out loud.
Angela (Angie) Pico (she, her, hers)
Angela Pico is a poet in Spanglish, Spanish and English. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa where she was awarded the Iowa Arts Fellowship and the Stanley Award. She is a PhD candidate in US Latino Literature at the University of Maryland, where she is an instructor of US Latino Literature and Creative Writing. She received her BA in Romance Languages and Literatures from Pomona College, and she also has an MA in French and Francophone Studies from the University of Iowa. Angela writes poetry, prose and children’s stories. She has performed her work in Iowa City, Chicago, and Washington D.C., showcasing her love for the spoken word. In addition to her literary pursuits, she is a trained visual artist who has marketed her artwork in the Washington D.C. area. Her creative approach integrates literature, cultural studies, and visual arts.
Each session includes a grounding welcome, a generative free-write, a deep dive into the theme, writing prompts, and time to share with each other in a supportive, welcoming space. Participants are encouraged to speak, write, and share in both English and Spanish, and use the language(s) that feel most true to you.
No experience required. Come as you are, bring a notebook or laptop.

Raíces is a writing series hosted by Tintas DC exploring storytelling as resistance and healing. Each month centers a different theme: from origin stories, to collective healing, to land and displacement. The series culminates in a community showcase this spring.
