Secret Planet Productions and the Mt. Pleasant Library friends present YEISON LANDERO and SOROCHE free in Lamont Plaza alongside neighborhood vinyl, food, and community vendors for our 2026 MTP BLOCK FEST.

From the heart of the Montes de María region, on Colombia's Caribbean coast, where cumbia was born, YEISON LANDERO emerged as one of the genre's greatest performers and key figures worldwide. Grandson of the legendary Andrés Landero, the King of Cumbia, Yeison not only carries his surname, but also the passion of a tradition that has transcended borders. At the age of seven, Landero became his grandfather's most beloved disciple, inheriting the soul of a troubadour and the virtuosity of the accordion. His career has been marked by the mission to preserve, innovate, and bring cumbia to new audiences.

From the Quechua surúchi, literally, antimony; from the belief that the sickness is due to the presence of the metal in the Andes mountains. In the musical sense, it’s a light headed feeling one gets when consuming the intoxicatingly exotic sonic brew of intercultural wavelengths. Born in DC, based in Baltimore, SOROCHE seeks to transmogrify Cumbia, Punk, Ska, folk, and everything in between into a danceable alchemy that crosses cultural dancefloors.

Local vinyl legends LEON CITY SOUNDS will open the event with some open decks sessions. We are also excited to offer FREE COMMUNITY POSTER SCREENPRINTING of a custom design from local artist NANDO ÁLVAREZ, available while supplies last. Vendors listed below will be slinging food, wares, and good info throughout the afternoon. The DC Peace Team will be present at this event to de-escalate and keep our community safe.

Secret Planet Productions y the Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library presentan a YEISON LANDERO y SOROCHE, con entrada gratuita en Lamont Plaza, junto a vendedores locales de vinilos, comida y productos comunitarios, como parte de nuestro MTP BLOCK FEST 2026.

Desde el corazón de los Montes de María, en la costa caribeña colombiana, donde nació la cumbia, YEISON LANDERO emergió como uno de los grandes intérpretes y figuras clave del género a nivel mundial. Nieto del legendario Andrés Landero, el Rey de la Cumbia, Yeison no solo lleva su apellido, sino también la pasión de una tradición que ha trascendido fronteras. A los siete años, Landero se convirtió en el discípulo más querido de su abuelo, heredando el alma de trovador y el virtuosismo del acordeón. Su trayectoria ha estado marcada por la misión de preservar, innovar y acercar la cumbia a nuevos públicos.

Del quechua *surúchi* (literalmente, antimonio), término que proviene de la creencia de que este malestar se debe a la presencia de dicho metal en las montañas de los Andes. En el sentido musical, describe esa sensación de mareo o aturdimiento ligero que se experimenta al consumir una embriagadora y exótica mezcla sonora de ondas interculturales. Nacido en DC y radicado en Baltimore, SOROCHE busca transformar la cumbia, el punk, el ska, el folk y todo lo que se encuentre entre estos géneros en una alquimia bailable capaz de trascender las pistas de baile culturales.

Las leyendas locales del vinilo, LEON CITY SOUNDS, inaugurarán el evento con una sesión de "open decks" (platos abiertos). También nos entusiasma ofrecer SERIGRAFÍA GRATUITA DE CARTELES COMUNITARIOS con un diseño personalizado del artista local NANDO ÁLVAREZ, disponible hasta agotar existenciasLos vendedores que se enumeran a continuación estarán ofreciendo comida, mercancías e información de interés durante toda la tarde. El DC Peace Team estará presente en el evento para mediar en posibles conflictos y velar por la seguridad de nuestra comunidad.

Pleasant Library, y más.
