Get ready to roll in our annual ride!
Save the date for Tour de DCPL.
See the sights of the city at our seventeenth annual bike ride.
Join DCPL on a tour of select library locations. The first Tour de DCPL first rolled out in 2010, offering a free community bike ride with library stops included. Every year since, a group of library staff and community members gear up to show riders around the city...and to celebrate National Bike Month!
This year's Tour de DCPL will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 10:30 a.m. (registration begins at 10 a.m. and the ride starts at 10:30 a.m.). The tour will visit four libraries, stop by Frederick Douglas historical sites, and follow a segment of Anacostia Park. We will roll out at the Parklands-Turner Library and wrap up at the Southwest Library (both libraries are conveniently located near Metro stations). Tour de DCPL is a no-drop ride -- library staff and ride marshals will accompany the group to ensure no one gets left behind. This year's ride will be about 7 miles long with one or two moderate hills -- beginners are welcome, but riders with more experience might enjoy the ride more.
Enjoy refreshments and pick up some DC Public Library swag as we explore some of our most beloved locations:
Registration will open once the route is finalized, so keep checking back.
The rain date for this year's Tour de DCPL is Sunday, May 10th @ 1 p.m.
