In honor of the donation of Carol Stuart Watson's archives, join the People’s Archive and Marjorie Watson Young for a short film screening and conversation about the Illustrator’s life and work.
Illustrator and publisher Carol Stuart Watson broke barriers for women in publishing, launching her own company in 1960 at a time when few women owned businesses.
During this short film screening and conversation led by Watson’s daughter Marjorie Watson Young, learn through personal stories, diary excerpts, photographs, and artwork how her mother helped shape the illustrated landscape of the nation's capital.
This event is presented by The People's Archive at DC Public Library. The People's Archive preserves and amplifies Washington DC history and culture, as well as Black Studies.
The Carol Stuart Watson Collection is now available for public research in the Peabody Room at Georgetown Neighborhood Library. Make an appointment to view the collection.
