A 2-hour, DIY museum in honor of the 50th anniversary of Punk, created by Punks.
…Wait a minute, what is a Pop Up Museum?
A Pop Up Museum is a temporary exhibit created by the people who show up to participate.
How does it work?
Write a bit about your object or story on one of the labels. Place your object and label somewhere in the room. Look at other people's objects, listen to their stories, and share yours!
What does the theme mean?
This theme asks you to reflect on your Punk origin story. When did you know you were part of the Punk scene? If you don’t know, that’s fine! You can bring something from any moment in your Punk story.
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants to respond to the prompt, "I knew I was Punk when..." can display an object! And anyone can attend!
What If I’m not Punk?
That’s okay! We welcome everyone to come to the museum, view the objects on display, talk to the exhibitors and learn about the punk scene.
What objects can I display?
Objects can include Photographs, Fliers, T Shirts, Buttons, Set Lists, Ticket Stubs, Music Recordings, Video Recordings, zines, and more.
Can I sell my objects?
No. The Pop Up Museum is free and open to all, and the sale of objects is not permitted.
What happens to my objects after the Pop Up Museum ends?
After the Pop Up Museum, you can take the items you brought home with you. They’re yours!
What if I want to donate my objects to the archive?
If you want them to have a permanent place in the DC Punk Archive, talk to one of the staff facilitators to learn how to donate your objects.
What if I have more questions?
