Tauheed Epps was fifteen when he was arrested, hustling to survive while holding a basketball scholarship. Something kept pulling him toward a different life. This conversation is about what that something was and what it cost him to trust it.

Epps, known as 2 Chainz, earned a basketball scholarship to Alabama State University and built a two-decade rap career that includes two Grammy Awards, a string of platinum singles, and a catalog that helped define the sound of Atlanta trap globally. He built a business portfolio spanning restaurants, real estate, cannabis, fashion, film, television, and an ownership stake in the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA's G League, the neighborhood team in the city where he started.

In conversation with DJ Quicksilva, host of The Quicksilva Morning Show and a fixture in DC's hip-hop and R&B community, 2 Chainz discusses how he traces every decision that mattered back to a specific kind of attention, including:

• How he learned to distinguish intuition from impulse, and what it cost him to ignore the difference
• The specific moments where faith determined the outcome, and what he recognized in them only afterward
• What it took to write honestly about failure when his public identity is built on winning
• What he wants to hand down to people who came from where he came from
• What the book is asking of its readers

This is a chance to hear 2 Chainz say what the pages could not hold.

About the Book

Before he was the two-time Grammy Award-winning rapper, actor, and entrepreneur 2 Chainz, he was Tauheed Epps—an only child growing up in College Park, Georgia, raised by a single mother while his father served time in prison. Though he excelled in school and earned a basketball scholarship, the streets were never far behind, and by fifteen, he had been arrested and was hustling to survive. He faced doubt and self-destruction, but even then, something told him there had to be more. In THE VOICE IN MY HEAD IS GOD, 2 Chainz tells the story of how he walked away from trap and found his purpose: not by fame or fear, but by faith. With his unmistakable voice and unflinching honesty, he reflects on the most challenging moments of his life and the quiet revelations that shaped him. From the spiritual alarms he could not ignore to the mentors who showed up at the right time, he explores how his music and verses poured out when he finally listened to the voice that had been there all along.

From hanging with Lil Wayne to getting early help from Ludacris, THE VOICE IN MY HEAD IS GOD brings us into the defining moments of 2 Chainz’s life and career while delivering a powerful message about discipline, divine timing, and self-belief. Along the way, 2 Chainz offers more than a memoir. He shares a way of thinking, of trusting yourself, and of listening to the voice that never steers you wrong.
