Get ready to roll!
See the sights of the city at our seventeenth annual bike ride.
Join DCPL on a tour of select library locations. The first Tour de DCPL first rolled out in 2010, offering a free community bike ride with library stops included. Every year since, a group of library staff and community members gear up to show riders around the city...and to celebrate National Bike Month!
This year's Tour de DCPL will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 10:30 a.m. (check-in begins at 10 a.m. and the ride starts at 10:30 a.m.). The tour will visit four libraries, stop by the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, and follow a segment of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. We will start at the Parklands-Turner Library and wrap up at the Southwest Library -- both of these libraries are conveniently located near Metro stations. Tour de DCPL is a no-drop ride -- library staff and ride marshals will accompany the group to ensure that no one gets left behind. This year's ride will be about 7 miles long with a couple hills -- beginners are welcome, but riders with some experience might enjoy the ride more. Ages 13 & up.
Enjoy refreshments and pick up some DC Public Library swag as we explore four of our most beloved locations:
Riders are required to bring their own bicycle and to wear a helmet.
Rain date: Sunday, May 10th @ 1 p.m. (meet at 12:30 p.m., Parklands-Turner Library).
