What is a Haiku? Haiku is the shortest form of poetry! Haikus are traditional Japanese poems made up of three short lines and 17 syllables that capture a moment, image or feeling.
In celebration of National Poetry Month, the DC Public Library invites you to compete in the annual Haiku Contest this April!
Stop in anytime in April and submit a Haiku. Contest runs April 1-30 in honor of National Poetry Month.
Children’s (6-12), teens (13-19) and adults (20+) winners will be selected. Winners will receive library swag, a certificate, and have their poem on display at the library!

This event is open for all ages. Limited to 2 entries per person.
