African American Film Critics Association Screening & Panel of The Distinguished Gentleman
DC Public Library welcomes the African American Film Critics Association and their celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Eddie Murphy comedy with a special screening and lively panel discussion
You're invited to a special 30th Anniversary screening of the Eddie Murphy comedy "The Distinguished Gentleman" starring Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha, Abbott Elementary), Lane Smith (My Cousin Vinny) and Victoria Rowell (Diagnosis Murder, The Young and the Restless)
The 1992 comedy of a con-man turned member of the U.S. House of Representatives is brought to you by the African American Film Critics Association and it's 5th Annual Summer Screening at libraries throughout the U.S.
Screening will be immediately followed by a lively panel discussion featuring local politicos, media strategists and journalists.
About the African American Film Critics Association
The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) actively reviews and spotlights cinema at-large, with a particular emphasis on film and TV highlighting the Black experience, especially that produced, written and/or directed by persons from the African Diaspora. Members are also engaged in AAFCA’s advocacy work, which includes programming for students interested in film criticism and journalism in addition to general community outreach.
AAFCA members are a geographically diverse cross-section of journalists, covering all genres of the cinematic arts while representing multiple mediums – including print, TV, radio broadcast and online. Collectively, they reach a worldwide audience in excess of 100 million.
