Children in Grades 2-6 are invited to learn to play chess or improve their skills with an instructor from the U.S. Chess Center.
All levels welcome! Students in grades 2-6 only. Students are divided into groups by ability. Absolute beginners are welcome, as are tournament players and everyone in between.
Chess club will not be held on any days the library is closed or during DCPS Spring Break. Students are expected at all club meetings, as lessons build from the previous lessons (this is not a drop-in program). Please register using the link.
Chess Club is offered by the nonprofit U.S. Chess Center (https://chessctr.org), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All instructors are certified chess coaches.
Chess Club is a partnership between DC Public Library, the U.S. Chess Center, and the Cleveland Park Friends of the Library.
