Is English your second language, and are you hoping to improve it? Would you like to know more about American culture and current events? Would you like to practice speaking in a comfortable group?
The English Conversation Group is returning to the Georgetown Library!
Is English your second language, and are you hoping to improve it? Would you like to know more about American culture and current events? Would you like to practice speaking English in a small and comfortable group?
The Georgetown Library is reviving its weekly English Conversation Group, every Saturday morning from 10:00-11:30 am in the Library. The first session will be Saturday, June 1. The group will be led by Professor Catharin Dalpino, who has previously led English conversation groups in the Library.
1. What topics will the Georgetown English Conversation Group discuss?
Any topics that interest group members! To get us talking, every week we will read a brief article on current issues or aspects of American culture. Participants can also practice their language skills by making presentations to the group on topics of their choice.
2. What should my level of English proficiency be to participate in the group?
All are welcome in the group, but English speakers at the intermediate level or above will get the most out of the discussion.
3. How can I join the group?
New members can join just by coming to the Library on Saturday mornings at 10:00-11:30 am. However, if you would like to register in advance or have questions, feel free to contact Wendell Kellar at the Library at wendell.kellar@dc.gov. Participants in the group will also be given contact information for Professor Dalpino.
