Faith in Focus Series
Dorothy Day (1897-1980), was an American journalist, social activist, renowned writer, servant of the poor, an advocate for social justice and nonviolence, and a devout Catholic. In 1933. she co-founded the "Catholic Worker" newspaper and movement along with Peter Maurin.
The process for Dorothy Day's sainthood is underway in the Roman Catholic Church.
Join Art Laffin for a talk on the life and enduring legacy of Dorothy Day.
Art Laffin is a writer, author, and member of the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, D.C. He has long been active in faith-based nonviolent movements for peace and social justice, including the plowshares and anti-death penalty movements. He is author of a new edition of "The Risk of the Cross: Living Gospel Nonviolence in the Nuclear Age" and co-editor of "Swords into Plowshares". He is a Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace.
