Immerse yourself in the perfectly-eerie novel by Shirley Jackson, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, with a book discussion, screening of the movie, and craft!
Merricat, said Constance, would you like a cup of tea?
Oh no, said Merricat, you'll poison me.
Merricat, said Constance, would you like me to go to sleep?
Down in the boneyard ten feet deep!
Join us for a discussion of Shirley Jackson's creepy classic We Have Always Lived in the Castle following a screening of the 2018 film adaptation starring Taissa Farmiga, Alexandra Daddario, and Sebastian Stan. Create your own cemeterrarium (that is, a creepy-themed terrarium) and enjoy refreshments inspired by the book.
Film screening begins at 2:00pm, discussion begins at 3:45pm, and attendees are welcome to work on their cemeterrariums throughout. Enjoy all three activities or stay for just a portion of the event.
Need a copy of the book? Stop by Southwest Library in the adult section beginning October 1 to check one out or check out the ebook or eaudiobook.
