Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Books from Birth and join us as we spread library joy with our special guest Mychal Threets.
Books from Birth and Beyond the Book families are invited to a cozy, evening pajama storytime with Mychal Threets, the beloved new host of PBS’ Reading Rainbow and champion of library joy everywhere. Join us as he shares his brand‑new picture book, I’m So Happy You’re Here: A Celebration of Library Joy:a warm, heartfelt tribute to the magic of libraries and the people who make them feel like home.

Slip into your comfiest pajamas and settle in as Mychal brings his signature kindness, enthusiasm, and love of reading to this special nighttime event. Children and families will hear him read aloud, celebrate the wonder of community spaces, and explore how stories can comfort, connect, and spark delight at any age.
A limited number of I’m So Happy You’re Here: A Celebration of Library Joy will be available on a first‑come, first‑served basis courtesy of the DC Public Library Foundation.
This event will take place in the 5th floor event space of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.

Mychal Threets is a librarian and literacy advocate named one of Time’s 100 most influential creators. Online, he shares videos of affirmations to assure people that their mental health always matters, and he encourages everyone to know they belong at the library. A former PBS kid himself, Mychal is proud to serve as PBS resident librarian. This is his first book. His cats, Machine Gun Kitty and Kissin’ Kat Barlow, did not help at all, but he still appreciates them.
