Join DC Public Library for a special Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the iconic MLK Mural—a lasting symbol of Dr. King’s vision, resilience, and call to collective action in the heart of the nation’s capital.
This commemorative gathering will reflect on the mural’s creation and enduring impact through remarks from members of the family of Don Miller, whose artistry and leadership helped shape this historic work. Their reflections will honor the mural not only as a work of public art, but as a living testament to the values of justice, dignity, and hope that continue to guide our city.

Together, this celebration invites the public to pause, reflect, and recommit to Dr. King’s legacy—rooted in service, equality, and the enduring power of art to inspire change.
