Come read with us!
For September we'll be reading Dominicana by Angie Cruz, a coming-of age-story about the Dominican immigrant experience. Set in 1960s New York, fifteen-year-old Ana Cancion is trapped in a loveless marriage to a man twice her age—abusive businessman Juan Ruiz—and leaves everything that she knows in the Dominican Republic for a six-floor walk-up in Washington Heights. When Juan's younger brother César appears, Ana finds independence, love, and opportunity...but it will it last?
All genres and readers are welcome. Reading the club selection is not a requirement to attend (just be forewarned that there will be spoilers). Titles will be decided by group members and a limited number of copies will be set aside at the Mt. Pleasant Library. Fill out this form to be added to the book club mailing list.
