Come read with us!
This month we'll be reading "The Last White Man" by Mohsin Hamid. A young man named Anders wakes up to find his white skin transformed a "deep and undeniable brown." Soon white inhabitants of an unnamed town follow suit. Through Kafkaesque plot and racial allegory, Hamid discusses identity, white supremacy and social justice, and trauma.
All genres and readers are welcome. Reading the club selection is not a requirement to attend (just be forewarned that there will be spoilers). Titles will be decided by group members and a limited number of copies will be set aside at the Mt. Pleasant Library. Fill out this form to be added to the book club mailing list.
