Professor Herron talks about a new edition of her first novel "Thereafter Johnnie."
The Snowdon family represents Black excellence in Washington, D.C. John Christopher is a respected heart surgeon and professor. His wife Camille raises their three daughters to be successful women. Things aren’t what they seemed to be for the Snowdon family–there are terrible and dark secrets. When John Christopher’s granddaughter Johnnie comes to find the truth of her parentage, she uncovers dark family secrets and a vision of a nation on the brink of ruin in the novel Thereafter Johnnie (linked to catalog) by noted local author Professor Carolivia Herron.
Professor Herron first published Thereafter Johnnie in 1991 and released a new edition of her novel in Fall 2025. A book sale and signing will follow the author talk. Copies of the novel are available from the library system.
The author talk is in the Meeting Room on the lower level of the library.
