On Tuesday, December 30th, the Chevy Chase Library will host a screening of the Rob Reiner films, 'The Princess Bride', 'Stand by Me', and 'When Harry Met Sally', beginning at 12 PM.
On Tuesday, December 30th, the Chevy Chase Library will host a screening of Rob Reiner films, including The Princess Bride, Stand by Me, and When Harry Met Sally, beginning at 12 PM.
At 2 pm we will show 1987's The Princess Bride, starring Robin Wright, Cary Elwes, and Mandy Patinkin. "A kid, home sick from school, grudgingly allows his grandfather to read him a dusty storybook, which is how we meet the innocent Buttercup, about to marry the nefarious Prince Humperdinck though her heart belongs to Westley. A mysterious pirate, a vengeful Spaniard, and a good-natured giant interrupt the wedding plans" (catalog description) Based upon the novel by William Goldman. Rated PG.
At 4 pm we will show 1986's Stand By Me starring Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland and Richard Dreyfuss. "A coming-of-age tale about four 12-year-old boys who hear that there is a dead body in the woods near where they live and proceed to try and find it. In the process, their friendship is tested." (Swank.com) Based upon the novella The Body by Stephen King.
Finally, at 6 pm we will screen the 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally starring Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, Carrie Fisher, Bruno Kirby and Rob Reiner. "Harry Burns and Sally Albright meet when they share a car on a trip from Chicago to New York right after both graduate from college. As the two build their lives and careers in Manhattan, they find love and heartache--with other people--but their paths continue to cross and their friendship continues to grow over the years ... until they confront the decision whether to let their friendship develop into romance." (swank.com) Written by Nora Ephron.
The films will be screened in the second floor meeting room. Stand by Me and When Harry Met Sally are rated R and are intended for adult audiences.
