Explore a variety of mixed-media approaches to art!
In this course, participants will explore a variety of mixed-media approaches to art! Mixed media can unlock a variety of textures, styles, and imaginative avenues. Applying techniques such as perspective, shading, and color theory, participants will have the opportunity to work from reference imagery as well as from life objects, capturing the beauty of the world around them while developing their artistic skills.
About the Instructor
With over 20 years of teaching experience, Chinedu Felix Osuchukwu is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work spans painting, sculpture, and mixed media. An alumni of Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Corcoran College of Art and Design (BFA), and MICA (MFA), his vibrant, textured pieces explore identity, heritage, and transformation. His art has appeared in O Magazine, the Studio Museum of Harlem, and the DuSable Museum, and is held in collections including those of Peggy Cooper Cafritz and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Chinedu has created public murals for Murals DC and First Lady Michelle Obama, and was appointed to the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities by Mayor Muriel Bowser.
Currently, he resides at his studio at Jackson Arts Center in Georgetown and teaches at Washington Studio School and the University of the District of Columbia. He believes that art is a powerful vehicle for social change, and he is committed to passing his knowledge on to future generations.
