Valentine's Day Poetry Reading
Greetings to all love poets, and anti-love poets!
The Georgetown Neighborhood Library is sponsoring a Valentine's Day Generative Workshop and Poetry Reading on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at 2:00 PM. The reading will be hosted by Don Illich and Courtney Le Blanc, both widely published poets. At 2:00 PM, Don Illich will provide participants with writing prompts to create drafts for poems, flash fictions, journal entries, and any other kind of writing. No need to be a writer – here's a chance to let your creativity loose. Then at 3:00 PM, Don and Courtney will give a short reading of love/anti-love poems, then follow that with an open mic reading of love/anti-love poems. The poets will be open to discussing their works and writing in general after the event.
Courtney LeBlanc is the author of the full-length collections Her Whole Bright Life (winner of the Jack McCarthy Book Prize); Exquisite Bloody, Beating Heart; and Beautiful & Full of Monsters. Her next collection, Her Dark Everything, is forthcoming in April 2025. She is the Arlington County Poet Laureate and the founder and editor-in-chief of Riot in Your Throat, an independent poetry press. She loves nail polish, tattoos, and a soy latte each morning.
