Wednesdays and Sundays during Black History Month, you can schedule a one-on-one orientation with library staff to get started on Ancestry.com Library Edition and HeritageQuest.
The DC Public Library opens the door to your past with free access to Ancestry.com Library Edition and HeritageQuest. This February, in honor of Black History Month, you can schedule an in-person orientation session with Bellevue Library staff to learn how to explore these powerful digital tools. After the brief orientation, continue exploring on your own. Search thousands of databases, including birth, death, immigration and military service records, U.S. census records up to 1950 and records from historical sources such as the U.S. Freedman's Bank and 19th-century federal mortality schedules. In-person appointments are available every Wednesday in February between 9 am to 4 pm and Sundays between 1 pm and 4 pm. Call the Bellevue Library at 202 243-1185 and give us your phone number and email address. Library staff will contact you to arrange a time to visit.
