We are excited to host an Author Talk with Kelly Starling Lyons Smith, where kids will dive into her journey to becoming an author.
Kelly Starling Lyons isn't just an author; she's a literary trailblazer! As a founding member of The Brown Bookshelf, she's penned over 30 incredible books that spotlight Black heroes, celebrate family and friendship, and inspire kids everywhere. Her hit picture book, *Going Down Home with Daddy*, has even snagged a Caldecott Honor!
And guess what? We've got a limited number of her books up for grabs for Beyond the Book Families, thanks to the DC Public Library Foundation. This is a fantastic chance to add some amazing stories to your home library!
Beyond the Book, generously funded by the DC Public Library Foundation, is a city-wide reading and learning club that engages Books from Birth graduates as well as developing readers across DC around a carefully selected title along with fun and educational learning activities that will deepen their understanding and enjoyment of the book as well as build their reading skills.
