Join DC Public Library for an exciting author talk with Grace Lin, author of "The Gate, the Girl and the Dragon" in conversation with Ellen Oh.
DC Public Library is excited to work in partnership with Politics & Prose to host Grace Lin for her exciting new book, The Gate, the Girl and the Dragon! Grace will be in conversation with local award-winning author author Ellen Oh.The DC Library Foundation will be giving out copies of the new book on a first come, first basis so please arrive early if you would like a copy. Grace's books will also be on sale at the event.
Stone spirit Jin may be a lion, but he wants to play ball like all kids. But when he kicks the Sacred Sphere out of the spirit world in anger, the gate between the spirit world and our world closes. Stuck outside the gate, Jin must find help from unlikely allies, including a girl who can hear a mysterious voice and a worm who claims he is a dragon. Together, they must find the sphere and return it to the world beyond the gate… or risk losing everything.
Grace Lin is the award-winning and bestselling author and illustrator of multiple children's books including Newberry winner Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Chinese Menu, and the Ling & Ting books. Grace is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and lives in Massachusetts with her family.
Ellen Oh is an award-winning author and editor of numerous middle grade and young adult novels including The Colliding Worlds of Mina Lee, You Are Here: Connecting Flights, a middle grade collection of interwoven stories, and Finding Junie Kim. A former adjunct college instructor and lawyer, Ellen is a founding member of We Need Diverse Books, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in children's literature. Ellen lives in Rockville, Maryland with her husband, three human children, and two dog children.
