Strong Start, DC’s early intervention program, provides support and services to families with children, from birth through age 3, with developmental delays and disabilities.
Strong Start DC Early Intervention Program (DC EIP) Community Playgroups are open to the public and available to families with children three years old and younger. Early intervention professionals facilitate playgroups and provide a child-interest driven environment for children to play and socially interact with their same age peers. Families can have conversations with developmental experts and learn about how to support their child’s development. If interested, families can complete developmental screenings with members from Strong Start’s child find team, access information about early intervention services, and/or receive assistance in making a referral to the Strong Start program if needed.
Community playgroups are held monthly, on different days, at several DC Public Library locations. RSVP’s are requested for each playgroup session, but walk-ins are also welcome.
If you have questions or need help with an RSVP, please contact Kisha Lim by email at Kisha.Lim@dc.gov.
If you have questions or developmental concerns about a child younger than age 3, contact Strong Start at (202) 727-3665. To submit a Strong Start referral visit eip.osse.dc.gov.
