Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a Japanese folklore story.
Join us as we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with the Embassy of Japan. The JICC staff will use Kamishibai (Japanese Paper Theatre) to read “How the Years Were Made.” In this Japanese folklore story, learn how the years of the twelve-year cycle used in East Asia were named after various animals. Following the story, make Origami samurai helmets to take home with you! Best suited for children ages 5-10.
The Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan, offers a variety of free programing. Located on 1150 18th Street NW, the JICC is open on weekdays 9AM to 5PM.
