Join us for an opening reception to celebrate the opening of the visual art exhibit ARTivism: New Beginnings.
Presented by the local arts organization Love 4 Immigrants and guest curated by Salomé Cosmique, a Trauma Informed Teaching Artist and curator, born in Colombia and currently residing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, ARTivism: New Beginnings focuses on transforming ourselves and our communities through the power of art.
The exhibit explores how creative expression can heal our pain and traumas, authentically convey cultural heritage and identities, and address pressing social and environmental issues. It features visual artworks in photography, painting, and mixed media by AnaYelsi Velasco Sanchez, Rama AlFarkh, and Wole Ajagbe.
The reception will be held on Monday, March 24, from 5:30-8:30 pm at the MLK Library, Floor 5, featuring performances/screenings and a walkthrough the curator and artists. Light refreshments will be served.
