It's a "Teenarama Dance Party"! Join us in the auditorium for a trip down memory lane.
The African American Music Association in association with Selah City Urban Theater and Kendall Productions present a screening of the musical film "Dancing on the Air: The Teenarama Story". This Telly Award winning film transports audiences back to 1960s Washington, DC, where WOOK-TV, Channel 14 made history, airing one of the Nation’s first successful all-Black teen television dance programs, The Teenarama Dance Party.
Following the film screening, there will be a panel discussion with the playwright/songwriter Jiiko Ozimba and Executive Producer, Beverly Lindsay-Johnson, along with members of the cast and production team and a live musical performance by members of the cast. The program will conclude with the audience dancing to the music of the 1960s with DJ Scooter Magruder. It's a "Teenarama Dance Party"!
