Join Lev Weitz, Assistant Professor and Director of the Islamic World Studies Program at The Catholic University of America, as he examines the uniqueness of Medieval Spain.
Medieval Spain was a country of remarkable religious diversity, where Muslims, Christians, and Jews rubbed shoulders in marketplaces, fought each other on battlefields, and debated theology in Arabic, Latin, and Hebrew.
Was Spain's story chiefly one of conflict or coexistence?
In this talk we'll explore the many realms of interreligious interaction in medieval Spain and consider how a multi-religious society remained impressively durable despite its challenges.
This talk is part of the Northeast Library's ongoing "Faith in Focus" series
