Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a Gothic novella written by Robert Louis Stevenson and originally published in 1986. It follows lawyer Gabriel John Utterson as he investigates strange occurrences surrounding his friend Dr. Henry Jekyll and the criminal activity of a man named Edward Hyde. It is an iconic work of gothic literature and early example of science fiction horror.
"Jekyll & Hyde" the musical debuted on Broadway in 1997 after several years as a touring production. It was conceived for stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, with music by Frank Wildhorn and book by Leslie Bricusse. The original Broadway production ran for over 1,500 performances, and the show won Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical, Bes Actor in a Musical, Best Costume Design, and Best Lighting Design.
