In recognition of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, DC Public Library is partnering with Story District to invite residents to share your stories about why you love D.C.!
Join us at the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Library on Thursday, May 21, at 6pm to learn the fundamentals of personal narrative while exploring your own experiences of showing up for your community and being part of the evolving story of D.C. Through guided exercises, you'll identify source material from your life, practice in pairs and small groups, and receive optional feedback in a supportive environment. The program will occur in the large meeting room.
The I LOVE D.C. storytelling swap is an opportunity for residents to reflect on the everyday acts of participation, community-building, and civic engagement that shape our shared democracy. Instead of focusing on historic milestones, this program highlights the stories of ordinary people—neighbors, caregivers, volunteers, organizers, and engaged citizens—whose contributions form the backbone of civic life.
All are invited to join even if you've never 'told' a story before. Reservations are encouraged but not required.
Share your story and love for your city!
