Celebrate children and connect them to the world of learning through books, stories and libraries.
Join us for a puppet workshop led by Cecilia Cackley, a puppeteer and teaching artist. Followed by a lambe-lambe puppet show called Pura Plants Stories.
We will also have free giveaway copies of Menudo Sunday, a Spanglish picture book, for participants to take home. (while supplies last)
About the show: Pura Plants Stories is a lambe-lambe show inspired by the life and work of Puerto Rican librarian Pura Belpré. One of the first Afro-Latina librarians at the New York Public Library, she advocated for bilingual story times and shared traditional Puerto Rican stories with a wider audience through books, storytelling, and puppetry.
This event has been created for children 5 and older and their caregivers.
This program is made possible thanks to the DC Public Library Foundation and the Deanwood Library Friends.
To request a reasonable accommodation for this program, contact DCPLaccess@dc.gov or call (202) 727-2142
