A documentary screening + musical performance
Join LA-based filmmaker Tatev Sargsyan for a screening of the 40-minute documentary, Rhizome is Home, on the Takoma Park fixture for experimental arts programming. With the aid of Humanities DC and the DC Oral History Collaborative, Sargsyan captured mind-bending musical performances and interviews over a two-year period; the result is an examination of what it means to have creative communal spaces for marginalized voices with the looming threat of gentrification and displacement.
The evening will begin with a performance from the trio Drawn, a band formed at Rhizome DC. Following the screening there will be a brief Q&A.
This program is for ages 13+ and is supported by the Mt. Pleasant Library Friends.
