This is a special America 250 performance featuring string quartet musicians from the Washington Conservatory of Music.
The library is honored to present a special edition of the West End Salon series, featuring Artistic Director Andrew Lee and the Washington Conservatory of Music. In recognition of the nation's semiquincentennial, they have prepared a new program - REPUBLIC OF SOUND: American Letters in Four Parts. This special performance is presented in partnership with American Purpose at Persuasion, and generously underwritten by The West End Library Friends.
The afternoon will bring string quartet musicians from the Washington Conservatory of Music inspired by historic American letters and writings preserved through libraries. This unique program weaves together music and storytelling to explore the voices, ideas, and spirit that shaped the nation. Performed by WCM faculty musicians, the concert journeys through early American fiddle tunes, bluegrass, spirituals, hymns, jazz, Broadway favorites, and works by iconic American composers including Aaron Copland.
