Join us for an inspiring visit with award-winning children’s author Kelly Starling Lyons! Young writers of all ages will discover how to turn their ideas into powerful stories as Kelly shares her creative journey and writing tips.
Author of the beloved Jada Jones and Ty’s Travels series—including her latest, Super Ty!—Kelly has penned over 30 books that celebrate family, friendship, heritage, and the everyday heroes in our communities. Her acclaimed titles include Going Down Home with Daddy (a Caldecott Honor book), Tiara’s Hat Parade, and Sing a Song: How Lift Every Voice and Sing Inspired Generations.
A founding member of The Brown Bookshelf and a dynamic teaching artist, Kelly’s mission is to help every child see the power of their voice. She’s also contributed to Chelsea Clinton’s She Persisted series, and her work has been recognized by Good Morning America as part of “Who’s Making Black History.”
