This documentary by filmmakers Stanley Nelson and Nicole London chronicles the phenomenon of funk music and how it was interwoven into the Black Liberation movements in the United States.
"We Want the Funk" is the syncopated story of funk music, from its roots to the explosion of '70s urban funk and beyond. This documentary, which premiered on PBS Television in April 2025, is a must watch for all music lovers, especially for Black Music Month!
