On August 10th at 12 p.m. the Chevy Chase Neighborhood Library will screen Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Hamlet in the large meeting room.
Kenneth Branagh directed and starred in this lavish full-length version of Shakespeare's play about family betrayal, loyalty and revenge. Also starring Julie Christie, Derek Jacobi, Kate Winslet, and Charlton Heston.
Please note that this is a rare production that contains the whole text of the play, therefore it is 4 hours long. We will be taking two 15-minute intermissions during the screening.
This special Saturday movie screening is a supplement to an upcoming lecture on Hamlet for our Motherhood in Fiction series. Patrons are welcome to bring in copies of the play if they wish to read along with the film. Folger Shakespeare Library has an excellent edition on their website, which can be read on a phone or an iPad.
