You're invited to a special Books from Birth event in partnership with the Capital City Go-Go! Hear about the magic of making your favorite comic books with Marvel colorists.
Join Marvel colorists Stephanie Williams and Chris Sotomayor for a look at what it means to bring comics to life. They will be visiting TWO library locations on Thursday, Mar. 21 (Northeast and Anacostia) with The Avengers Assembled: The Origin Story of Earth's Mightiest Heroes author David Bettencourt and a very special Marvel guest! Stephanie, an alumna of the University of Illinois at Chicago, has made a remarkable journey from a scientist to a comic book creator. Her imaginative storytelling has been captivating readers and she has an impressive portfolio of titles to her name. These include 'Nubia and the Amazons', an empowering tale, 'Nubia: Queen of the Amazon', a regal adventure, and 'Wakanda #1', an action-packed comic. She has explored the mystical world with 'Magic: Planeswalkers Noble #1' and used her research skills in her latest book, 'Strange and Unsung All-Stars of the DC Multiverse.'
Born and raised in the Bronx (NY), Chris Sotomayor has the reputation of being one of the fastest and most prolific color artists in the comic book business, having worked on the top
properties for the biggest publishers throughout the industry. His decades-long career also includes owning and operating an illustration studio which provides significant work for various consumer products, video games, children’s books, magazine illustrations, and toy packaging & design.
Chris also teaches the premier online art course on color and painting for Comics Experience, and runs an unofficial mentoring program in which he gives back to the creative community, helping many aspiring artists navigate the business and creative side of the arts.
