C.R. Gibbs is a DC Humanities Council scholar, author, historian and national/international lecturer on an array of historical topics that explore the rich history of African Americans.
C. R. Gibbs is an author/co-author of six (6) books and a frequent lecturer on an array of topics. Mr. Gibbs will conduct two lectures in February to celebrate Black History Month with the Benning/Dorothy I. Height community. The first lecture will be on "Justice Denied: The Roots of the Reparations Movement." The second lecture is entitled, "The Underground Railroad in the DMV." Mr. Gibbs, a notable historian, will share with the public about the reparations movement, where we were, where we are and where we are going. He will also discuss the history of the Underground railroad and the historical "tracks" that ran through the DMV. These lectures will take place in our large meeting room and will run two (2) consecutive Thursdays in the month of February, the 1st and 8th of the month. Lectures will be two (2) hours and will include a Q & A period at the conclusion of the lecture.
