Join us in October for the monthly meeting of the Calendars and Clocks Book Club. This month we will be reading The Changeling by Victor LaValle.
To get in the mood for October, this month's book is The Changeling by Victor LaValle. In this creepy book (soon to be a television show), readers are introduced to the distraught life of Apollo Kagwa, whose dreams (and wife) lend themselves to a level of fantasy-horror that is both disorienting and shocking. After something unthinkable occurs, Apollo embarks on an exploration of an alternative, creatively imaginative world that explores dark, but somehow familiar landscapes. The book traces outlines of the trauma around parenthood as well as what we remember about fairytales from when we were younger. Love, secrets, and magic make this a compelling October read.
