A Poetry Workshop for Find Your Story
Join local poet Regie Cabico for a special writing workshop. Participants will generate unique images that they will perform by using a variety of experimental techniques that answer the question, Who are you? We will see how the simple act of writing lists can get us to a place of intense feeling and imagery. We will generate original poems that channel our powerful selves and look at the work of poets who have been featured on Button Poetry and who are pioneers in the poetry slam art form: i.e. Jon Sands, Sierra Freeman, and Yesika Delgado. We will address poetry slam structures and demystify the transition from page to stage as we transition into the spotlight. This is a generative writing workshop held in a positive environment for writers of all levels. Be prepared to write group poems as well as several new poems to share on the open mic or at a poetry slam.
This workshop is a part of the Library's day of writing Find Your Story: Writing With Love.
