Celebrate National Poetry Month this April by participating in our Haiku Contest! Click here to enter. 

En abril, celebre el Mes Nacional de la Poesía participando en nuestro Concurso de Haiku. Haga click aquí para entrar. 

Create your own 17-syllable masterpiece on one of the following topics:

  • A DC moment / observed in DC
  • Something that you are grateful for
  • Seasons, or
  • Something small and wild.

Haikus traditionally have three lines of 5 syllables-7 syllables-5 syllables, though that isn’t an absolute rule. All haiku are brief and expressive. Poets of all ages are eligible to enter and may submit up to two haikus. Prize-winners will take home library swag and eternal glory! Winning poems will be posted in the library and on the Library website in May. To enter, pick up a paper form from the library or enter online with our online form. Please submit entries from April 1st to April 30th.
