We meet the second Tuesday of every month to discuss a work of literary fiction.
Are you interested in contemporary fiction and nonfiction? Are you looking for a book club that meets in downtown DC? Look no further, and come join us at the MLK Library Literary Book Club.
The group has been meeting (in one guise or another) for over 20 years, making it the longest-running book club hosted by DCPL. It's a member-driven group: attendees decide which books we read, and the discussions have a roundtable format that gives everyone the opportunity to share their ideas about the readings. Meetings are held at 1:30pm on the second Tuesday of every month at MLK Library.
Here's a selection of the books we've read during the past year, since the reopening of MLK Library:
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, The Door by Magda Szabo, The Sea by John Banville, The Known World by Edward P. Jones, and Matrix by Lauren Groff.
If you'd like more information about the group -- or if you'd like to have your email address added to the group mailing list -- please send an email to adultservices.dcpl@dc.gov.
